I am Nicolette van Niekerk, company director and holding our latest addition to the Academy; a Certificate stating our Membership at the South African Chefs Association as a Training Provider.We are very proud of this achievement and can now proudly wear our badges as chefs as well. I started the business in 2010 because of my love for the Culinary art and the passion of developing people’s skills.I studied Foodservice Management in the 90’s still and spend my 10 years after that working as Chef, Brand Development Consultant, in the Financial field and Trainer at companies such as Unifoods, Robertson Foods and Woolworths. Also trained and qualified Assessor, Facilitator and Moderator through ETDP SETA, we strive to assess and sign off our students using the Assessment Criteria of always working and students presenting work that is Fair, Valid, Current, Authentic, Accurate and relevant to the subject.
Liezl Hugo is now newly appointed as Lecturer at our Academy and will be joined us from 1 November 2013.She comes with a lot of experience and we welcome her expertise and profound knowledge in the subject of Patisserie.Having more than 7 years experience as chef and more recently as Pastry Chef, she is welcomed with open arms by our students as she is such a bubbly, warm hearted and friendly person.She has a great passion for what she does and believes that she can make others also “fall in love with the World of Pastry”.
Everyone, that is everyone that ever came for a class know Lennie by now…I always talk about her.How she is my righthand when it comes to baking for all the students and assisting me at home with.. well just keeping my life together that is!No one has ever seen her so I would love to introduce her to you all.Lennie Kaunda, standing on the left of us is from Malawi originally.She started working for us in 2011 and while working as a baker for La Petite Patisserie, also completed her studies inBusiness Administration at UCT and Office Administration at Varsity College.Not only did she come to study and learn in South Africa, but she arrived here in 2010 with a Diploma in Food and Beverage from the University of Malawi.There was only one thing to do, staff her at out business. She bakes for us,but also uphold her own small business from home as a Cake Decorator.

She is always willing to assist, and someone that we desperately needed to hold “all the balls in the air” when it came to bookings. Being our Office Manager and Bookkeeper, she is the right person to speak to with regards to your booking or account query.
My vision still is to open up the field of Patisserie and Cake Decorating to everyone and allowing anyone willing to learn to obtain some form of qualification in it.Be proud of your talents, stand tall in your workplace and believe that you are made special with a unique set of skills that no other person has, but everyone else needs.
